Last week, Hostess brands announced they would be closing for good after a recent bakers strike.  Millions of us grew up with these brands, and felt like a piece of our childhood has been taken away. This news lead to people hoarding Twinkies and even selling them on Ebay for $1,000 a box...I wish I would.  So after a little digging, I found some pretty good copy cat recipes for Twinkies, Cupcakes and Snowballs.  Even if you're not culinarily inclined, a night in trying to recreate these treats could be a lot of fun.

Here's what you need to get started:

TWINKIES

Nonstick cooking spray or vegetable oil

1/2 cup cake flour

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons milk, preferably whole

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

5 large eggs, at room temperature

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter

Seven-Minute Filling
