PUBLIC ENEMY TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME
Legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next year. PE frontman Chuck D said about the honor, ["Well I grew up as a fan of sports, so Hall of Fame, I know the importance of it and to be recognized by your peers and the thing your in, so I don't think it's something where Public Enemy rested on our laurels. I think the last 15 years we made as many groundbreaking strides as our first ten. Especially getting away from the system that we think has highjacked hip-hop and made it something else. It's not about an achievement for Public Enemy per say, as much as it is an achievement for rap music and hip hop to be further legitimized instead of some company dictating it."]
Russell Simmons also reacted to the news, saying, "Favorite, most inspiring band ever. I quote Chuck daily."
- The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has also confirmed that Donna Summerwill also be inducted posthumously.
- The ceremony honoring the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2013 will be held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre on April 18th.

RICK ROSS SAYS HE TRIED TO CHOKE YOUNG JEEZY
Rick Ross has opened up about his run-in with Young Jeezy at the BET Hip Hop Awards earlier this year. In a Miami radio interview, Ross said, "This is nothing personal to me. At the BET Awards it basically just boiled down to me running across Young Jeezy, he had five security guards in front of him, five police officers behind him and we crossed paths I said 'what's up?' soon as he said 'what's up?' I tried to choke him. His security guards hemmed me up; whoever the big black dude with the bumps on his face, he should give that dude something special for Christmas."
Ross also spoke on his beef with 50 Cent. He said, "I'm a hands on type dude. I'm better with my hands than I am at making music. So it's not personal but if I see Young Jeezy again will I try to choke him? I don't know that's an option. If I see 50 Cent, is it personal? Not at all but it's an option."
- During the interview, the rap star announced that MMG is now signed to Atlantic Records -- which is interesting since Young Jeezy is SVP of A&R at the label.
ROSS DENIES HAVING BEEF WITH THE GD'S
Ross also denied cancelling his tour stop in North Carolina last week due to issues with the Gangster Disciples. He said, "Never was it due to any threats, I'm a certified man. I'm a real boss and this is something everybody needs to understand, gangstas move in silence."

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. MEMORIAL INSCRIPTION TO BE REMOVED: Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said yesterday (December 11th) that an agreement had been reached to remove a disputed inscription from the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial instead of cutting into the granite to replace it with a fuller quotation. Critics had complained after the memorial opened last year on the National Mall in Washington that the paraphrased quotation from a 1968 King sermon took the words out of context, making him seem arrogant. The paraphrase from what's known as the "Drum Major" speech reads, "I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness." However, the full quotation from the sermon, which took place two months before King's assassination, was, "Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all the other shallow things will not matter." Memorial sculptor Lei Yixin recommended removing the inscription by carving grooves over the lettering to match existing scratch marks in the sculpture to avoid harming its structural integrity.
T-ROY'S SEVEN TIPS FOR SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS WITH YOUR IN-LAWS
1) Don't expect it to be like your family. The fact that your in-laws aren't the same as your family is a good thing for lots of us, but not for some. Just because you do things a certain way in your family, don't expect the same from your in-laws. Be open to differences and learn to go with the flow.
2) Tread carefully with your partner when it comes to his/her family. What seems strange to you might seem normal to your partner. Kissing grown adults on the lips comes to mind. Remember, when you grow up in a country where everyone eats live fish, it seems perfectly normal to you.
3) Notice the nature of communication among family members and consider matching it. I'm not saying you can't be yourself, but consider it more like being at work than spending the holidays with your family. If you're in a room of stiffs, you don't want to come off as a hysterical, loud comic, even if that works for you most of the time. If the in-laws are outgoing and you're too much of a wallflower, they'll think you don't like them.
4) Remember that affection and emotion are expressed - or not expressed - differently in different families. What's happening in this family? You'll make people uncomfortable if you ask about their feelings and touch people if that's not their family's way. You'll also make people uncomfortable if you shrink away from the big hug from Uncle Bob because that's not your family's way. Find a happy medium.
5) Remember, your spouse will seem different with his/her family. We all have a role in our family of origin (FOO). When you get together with people you only see once or twice a year, you are expected to play that role. This is true despite the fact that you are now a grown-up and not a sniveling child or adolescent. Chances are, you will see your beloved in that historical role. Don't knock it; it's probably the same in your FOO. Be kind.
6) Remember, not everyone will love you all the time. Borrowing from Albert Ellis' wonderful irrational beliefs, you have to recognize that, unlike your FOO, your in-laws are not obligated to love you. In some families, there's a clear norm for embracing the in-law like a blood relative, whereas in others, not so much. Remember, your self-esteem is not on the line and neither is your relationship. And you're not going to love them all either.
7) Make it fun. Particularly if you know it's going to be difficult, I like to challenge people to tell me one or two ways to make it fun. Some examples to get you started: Learn something new about someone; give someone the gift of listening to them; make someone laugh; or, set an intention to see the humor in everything
